I Give Thanks
©2009 Jim Yackel
Yes, it is that time of year again. It's
that time of turkey, mashed potatos, stuffing, squash, and pumpkin pie. My, oh my -- it must be Thanksgiving!
In a word, yummy!
The year 2009 is rapidly drawing to a close. Time is flying at breakneck speed toward its eventuality -- which
is the return of Jesus for His bride. It could be today or tomorrow. It could be next week, next month, or next year. We
know not the day or the hour but we who are faithfully His know that it is the season. It won't be long --
Maranatha!
In the meantime while we wait, there is reason to give thanks. For me personally, 2009 is not a year that I
would choose to repeat or re-live, as it has been the worst year of my life. But, through the
trials and tribulations of this year my iron has been sharpened and for that I thank the Lord. And, I thank
the Lord for the wisdom and discernment to know that the sharpening will continue as long as I walk this
pre-tribulation earth.
What does the year 2010 hold in store? I thank the Lord God that I don't know for certain what the new year
will bring as that is in His mighty hands. I have my suspicions and prophetic inklings as to what 2010 may hold for
me and this world in total, but being that I am not Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, or any of the other esteemed and
supernaturally blessed prophets, I cannot say with certainty so I won't. It is best to give thanks that it is
all in God's hands, hallelujah!
I am thankful for the music that has been blessed upon me. Likewise, the words that manifest themselves in the
form of short stories and Jim's View columns are blessings that require thanks to the Holy Spirit and
His guidance and inspiration. There are ideas for more stories and even novels -- if there is time and tide
enough to create them.
What a blessing my daughter Sadie Jane is, and for her I am exceedingly thankful. She is beautiful, sensitive,
creative, and loving -- and I don't know what I did to earn a blessing like her but I say thank you, Lord!
There are some wonderful friends in my life who are first-rate blessings. To save them the embarrassment, I
won't mention them by name Mike, Erik, Kris, Rob and others: but God gave me invaluable gifts in all of these
people.
In closing, I'd like to say thanks to all of you. You are all invaluable blessings. May you have a wonderful
Thanksgiving with family and friends. Remember to give thanks for all you are blessed with -- not only on
Thanksgiving but every day.
In Christ's Service,
Jim
