Don't Despair
©2009 Jim Yackel
The first week of January, 2010, brings snow pilling high in Upstate New York. The weather here
has been for the most part mild over the last several months with snowfall lagging behind what is commonly referred to as "normal." Because of this below-average snowfall up
to now, far too many careless drivers in this area have forgotten how to safely operate a motor vehicle in wintry weather and they are an ever-present danger -- especially when
text-messaging and cell phone conversations serve as a willful distraction.
As I write this, Glenn Beck is a guest on the Fox and Friends program, speaking of the Obama Administration's apparent albeit surreptitious implementation of the Cloward and
Piven strategy to sink the U.S. economy. This writer is exceedingly grateful that people like Glenn Beck are on the media scene and opening the eyes of an America that seems
to be suffering from a peculiar Obama-induced hangover; while these millions refuse to wake up despite the fact that their metaphorical beds are smoldering.
I'm no prophet, nor have I ever played one on television. But, as a believer in the Lordship of Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit does speak to my soul -- but that does not make
me special as He would speak to any believer who would care to listen. Having written the previous two sentences as a background image I will jot down the next phrase as a layer
on the top: 2010 will be a year like no other.
The U.S. Government believes that you need to take its medicine and it is preparing to shovel it down your throat -- without the spoonful of sugar to help it go down in a most
delightful way. Christmas day 2009 reminded us that Islamist terrorists still want to kill us despite our government's best effort to suck-up and appease. Across the pond, Scotland Yard
believes that there may be many more like Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab ready to blow up airliners in similar style; with weapons concealed in their underwear. And where is the sharp-dressed
older man that aided Abdulmutallab in boarding the Detroit-bound plane without a passport?
AccuWeather.com's Chief
Meteorologist and Expert Long Range Forecaster Joe Bastardi believes that early 2010 will feature the worst winter weather in many years, akin to the brutally cold winter of
1977-78. And yes, the economy continues to deteriorate as the Fed believes that taxing the so-called rich into poorness while utilizing "stimulus" programs is the only way out of the
dark. That action, my friends, will just lead to a deeper darkness as America's freedoms are being eroded.
One group of millions in America is content to let things continue on their current path, as they have faith in the current government and to a great degree worship the current
occupant of the White House as a savior. But, there is another group of millions in America who have had enough and desire to take their country back. These two groups may soon
clash and there may be some variety of revolution. How this "revolution" would manifest itself remains to be seen -- but you would have to think that it is coming quickly in one
fashion or
another. At the very least, revolution will manifest itself through the electoral process. At its most fervent, it could potentially spill into the streets...
I am not here to advocate revolution as I don't need too. Instead, I am here to tell you not to despair. If your life is the proverbial bowl of cherries then there is no point
in your reading of this week's installment of Jim's View -- even though you've read this far! But, if you are searching and seeking then perhaps reading on is a good
idea. If you are struggling and looking for hope then OK, perhaps you are in the right place in this time. I don't have a material thing that I can offer; but I can offer hope.
Don't despair.
No matter how much trouble and strife may come, Jesus can walk you through it if your faith is in Him. No matter how rough the ride is through 2010, Jesus can cushion the blow.
Look folks, I am no Pollyanna strolling the streets of this life with a dopey smile on my face. If you know me personally, you know that I'm a serious and solemn cat a great
deal of the time, despite my considerable sense of humor. And in that, I'm here to tell you if you don't yet believe that Jesus is your eternal hope and life. If you do believe,
I'm here to remind you of that fact as this world can make it easy to forget.
In 2010, you may wonder how could Jesus exist. But, you may see just how real He is by the time next Christmas rolls around. Things will likely be very different than they are
right now in early January -- and those things are morphing at this moment. You were promised change by the current occupant of the White House and that change is coming at you
like a 100 car freight train downgrade on icy rails. His change is radical, but it may not be the most significant, most radical change that is seen this year...
...Don't despair, for there is no reason to. Have faith in the Lord and keep looking up.
In Christ's Service,
Jim
